13th December 1939 -  Attestation into the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve at Gloucester 

22nd January 1940-  Report for Service  at  No 1 Recruiting Depot, RAF Uxbridge, West London

26th January 1940 -  22nd February 1940 - No 5 Recruit Training Pool, Finningley, Yorkshire

23rd February 1940 - 27th June 1940 - School of Technical Training, RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire

27th June 1940 - Qualified as Electrician 2

28th June 1940 - 15th November 1940 - 20 Operational Training Unit, RAF Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland

2nd October 1940 - Promoted to Aircraftsman First - AC1

16th November 1940 - Posted to the Middle East

13th January 1941 - 5th April 1943 - 103 MU, RAF Aboukir, 7.2 miles (11.6 km) east of Alexandria, Egypt

22nd December 1941 - unit reassigned to Air Headquarters , Western Desert

1st March 1941 - Promoted to leading Aircraftsman  

7th June 1942 - Qualified as Electrician 1

1st July 1942 - Promoted to Technical Corporal  

4th October 1942 - Reassigned to Air Headquarters, Western Desert

6th April 1943 - 3rd July 1943 -  No 40 Air Stores Park, (Western Desert), RAF Sidi Heneish, Egypt (7.2 K east of Alexandria)

4th July 1943 - Embarked for South Africa

22nd August 1943 - 3rd October 1943 - No 62 Air School, Tempe, Bloemfontein, South Africa

4th October 1943 - 7th October 1943 - South African No 3 Military Hospital, Tempe, Bloemfontein, South Africa

8th October 1943 - 9th January 1945 - No 62 Air School, Tempe, Bloemfontein, South Africa

10th January 1945 - Home Embarkation

28th January 1945 - 11th September 1945 - RAF Honeybourne, Worcestershire

11th September 1945 - 14th September 1945

15th September 1945 - 30th September 1945 - RAF West Raynham, Norfolk

1st October 1945 - 7th December 1945 - Central Flying Establishment, RAF West Raynham, Norfolk

8th December 1945 - 11th March 1946 - No 56 Operational Training Unit, RAF Millfield, Northumberland

12th March 1946 - 101 Personnel Dispatch Centre, RAF Kirkham, Lanchashire

28th June 1946 - Released to Reserve Class "A"

March 1959 - Released to General Reserve "G"
